It was a pretty good month of tv! Almost all my regular favorites are on air again with a new season, which is always exciting. But it’s also so fun to have things on hand to binge. Especially when I’m sewing. So here’s what I’ve been watching this month!
TV – Alone
The Good Doctor
I’m really loving this new show! It’s fairly emotionally manipulative- which I LOVE in all forms of media consumption. The premise is very similar to House, which I absolutely loved when it was on. I get super excited every week when I have a new episode to watch. It’s the only show that I watch completely all in – not while I’m doing other things, like most of the shows I watch during the day.
The Mayor
Another new show this fall that I’m really enjoying. The characters are all so funny and endearing! Lia Michele is tolerable, but I really love everybody else.
The Mindy Project
Mindy has really gone downhill this last season. It really feels like they don’t care at all anymore. All signs point to her eventually reuniting with Danny, which would make me very happy. But the struggle to get there is getting hard to watch.
The Last Man on Earth
Another final season of a show that is barely holding it together. The addition of Kristin Wiig for a few episodes could have made it so interesting, but she was just painful to watch. They’ve killed off or shipped away everyone except the original cast now. I’m curious to see how things will end.
Famous in Love
Fair warning, if you’ve read this book, do not watch the tv show. If you want to watch the tv show, do not read the book. The third member of the love triangle is different and it will make you crazy to try and figure out why they made the decision to change so many things. I started the tv show first, but also began the book the next day. And finished the book before I binged the whole show. I liked the book. But I like the tv show’s Jake character soooo much. I wanted to punch Rainer in the face for how he ended the first season. If she chooses him in the second season, which I’m sure she will because she does in the book, I’m not sure I can handle watching it anymore.
The Leftovers
I’m having very uneasy iffy feelings about this one. I think Knox green-lit it on The Popcast, which is why I was interested in checking it out. I didn’t realize it was going to be so serious and depressing. Justin Thoreau is pretty hot, though, which I guess I never realized. I’m intrigued enough to keep going, but I really don’t know how I feel about it. I don’t like so many unanswered questions.
TV – Together
Outlander
I continue to love this tv adaptation of the books. Though this season is feeling particularly slow. If they plan on covering the whole third book in the third season they still have so much to go! But I love it.
Curb Your Enthusiasm
I am so incredibly happy Curb Your Enthusiasm is back on the air. It really feels like it never left. It’s always been such a funny show, but this season seems like the best to me. I’m laughing so hard during the entire thing. Hilarious!
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Always a good standby. Captain Holt continues to be my favorite.
Ghosted
I was really hoping this would be a great show. Nope! Well, we only watched two episodes. But it was so bizarre and stupid. Not interested in giving it any further chances.
Breaking Bad
With so many new shows to watch every night, this has been pushed to the back burner. But I’m still liking it!
The Flash
We finally have Happy Barry back! The last season or two he’s been so depressing and serious. It’s nice to see him laughing and having fun again. Same with all the regular characters.
Arrow
Arrow feels like a show I can’t give up since we’ve watched it from the start. But I really don’t care anymore. It does make me happy that William is finally part of the show. It drove me absolutely insane that they drop a bomb that Oliver has a son and then he’s not mentioned again for like three seasons.
Superstore
Still love it! I haven’t found this season to be quite as funny as the first two, but there’s hope.
MOVIES
The Princess Bride
I really wanted to watch this again after reading Cary Elwes’ As You Wish. So we had a family movie night, even though the boys didn’t have any interest. I was apprehensive about seeing it again after twenty years and realizing it was stupid and dated. But it wasn’t! I enjoyed it just as much as I used to when I watched it ALL THE TIME as a kid.
Gifted
Totally watched this just to stare at Chris Evans. The movie was so/so. I actually watched it all the way through, which is more than I can say for most movies I watch on my own these days.
And that’s it! Any new show recommendations for m?? I’m thinking about trying Mindbenders and American Vandal on netflix next. Oh, and Stranger Things, which came out today!
